Nemma

FAQ

Questions, answered plainly.

Privacy

Does anything ever leave my PC?

Not your meetings. By default no audio, text or captions leave your device. The one exception is your choice: on a PC too slow to translate locally, you can have the recognized text (never your audio) translated on a server. It stays off unless you turn it on, and the app shows what is sent and where.

Model downloads, license checks and update checks go out without any meeting content. Details are in the privacy summary.

Can you see my meetings?

No. Your meetings never pass through our servers, so we can’t see or keep them. Even with server translation on, your PC connects to the provider directly with a short-lived key; the text doesn’t go through us.

How can I check that for myself?

Our source code goes public at launch, so anyone can read what Nemma does. You can also watch Nemma’s network traffic with any network monitor: during a meeting in on-device mode, no audio, text or captions go out.

Does it work offline?

Yes. After the models are downloaded on first run, interpretation works without an internet connection. License checks allow up to 14 days offline.

Is anything saved?

No recordings, ever. Captions live in memory and are cleared when the meeting ends. Only your settings, your name and your list of terms are saved on your PC.

When live meeting notes arrive, you’ll be able to save a meeting’s notes as files on your PC, only if you choose. The full transcript will need a separate switch.

Meetings

Which meeting apps does it work with? Does a bot join?

Any app that plays sound on your PC, including Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Google Meet, Webex and webinars. Nemma doesn’t plug into meeting apps or invite a bot; it listens to the sound your PC plays, or to the microphone in the room. The others don’t see it in their meeting.

Does it work in a meeting room?

Yes. Put your laptop on the table and choose the microphone. The full-screen room view shows large captions, can tell speakers apart by voice if you allow it, and can show the captions on a TV or tablet in the same room over your local network.

Will people see my captions if I share my screen?

They may. Depending on your PC and meeting app, the caption window can appear in a screen share or recording. Move or close it before you share your screen.

Should I tell other people in the meeting?

Letting people know you’re using live interpretation is courteous, and if you save notes you should tell them. Your company’s policies or local law may require it. This isn’t legal advice; check with your company or a professional if you’re unsure.

Can the translation be wrong?

Yes. Machine interpretation isn’t perfect. Lines where a number or a negation may have changed are marked so you can check the original. For contracts, amounts and anything that matters, confirm directly.

Languages

Which languages does Nemma support?

English to Korean and Korean to English come first. Nemma is built so other languages can be added, and Japanese, Chinese and Spanish are being worked on. We’ll add each one only when it’s good enough for real meetings, so there are no dates yet.

Plans and billing

What’s the difference between Local and Pro?

Local ($12 a month or $99 a year) runs everything on your PC with no time limits. Pro ($19 a month or $159 a year) adds Pro meeting tools — meeting preparation, nuance notes, a reply helper and “What did they just say?” — and 20 hours a month of server translation for PCs too slow to translate locally. See pricing.

What is the Founders Circle?

A launch offer for the first 500 people, or everyone who joins before launch if that comes first. Founders get the first year of a yearly plan at a lower price — Local $69 (regularly $99 a year) or Pro $109 (regularly $159 a year) — and early access to the beta.

Nothing is charged now: you leave your email, and at launch we send you a link with your founders price. After the first year, the plan renews at the regular price unless you cancel. Join the Founders Circle

How does the free trial work?

14 days of the full Pro plan, with server translation capped at 2 hours, and no card. The trial never turns into a charge. When it ends, pick Local or Pro if you want to continue.

How do I cancel? Can I get a refund?

Cancel any time on your account page in one step. You keep access until the end of the period you’ve paid for. Yearly plans can be refunded in full if you ask within 14 days of the charge.

How many devices?

Up to 3 devices per subscription. You can remove a device on your account page.

Can I use it for free?

The source code will be published under PolyForm Noncommercial 1.0.0. For personal, non-work use you can build it yourself and use it for free. The paid plans give you signed installers, automatic updates and the tuned models.

Can I use it at work? For a team?

Yes. One person may use Local or Pro for work, including their own business, with nothing extra to buy. The free trial includes work use too. Work use of a copy you build yourself also needs a Local or Pro subscription. A team plan is planned; email hello@nemma.ai to hear when it’s ready.

Availability

When can I get it?

Windows first, then Mac, then iPhone and Android. There’s no release date yet. Join the Founders Circle and we’ll email you when it launches.

Will my PC run it?

You’ll need 16 GB of memory, a graphics card for translation and 12 GB of free disk space. See the requirements.

Can it caption videos too?

As an experimental extra, yes: Nemma can caption videos playing on your PC, starting with Korean videos in English. It’s for personal viewing; those captions can’t be saved or shared, and Nemma doesn’t get around copy protection.
